State & Local Tax

Baker & McKenzie is one of the few law firms in the United States that offers a full range of state and local tax ("SALT") services to our multinational clients. 

This ability is important given that the efficacy of virtually all tax planning can be increased significantly with proper consideration of the SALT issues inherent therein. Unlike most law firms, however, our SALT practice is an independent practice area that works closely with the federal tax group and other practice groups. In addition, Baker & McKenzie has offices in the key states where clients need representation. 

Our SALT group has developed several specific services that have achieved significant tax administrative cost savings for our clients. These services apply to a variety of industries and involve several different taxes. In certain circumstances, the service is very specific and designed for a particular industry or state. In any case, all of the strategies outlined represent a significant opportunity for improving client tax positions.
