Paris, 9 June 2008 – Baker & McKenzie SCP has named Régis Fabre as its new Managing Partner in Paris effective 1 July 2008. He will replace Denise Broussal and Laurent Epstein, who have shared this role since 2004.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Fabre said: “I am grateful for the Partners’ support in taking up this new role. Under Denise and Laurent’s leadership, the Paris office has developed and increased its capabilities to meet the needs of our clients in the market. I am excited for the opportunity to advance our strategy in Paris and continue the success the office has seen thus far.”
Mr. Fabre’s practice focuses on distribution, marketing and consumption law, national and community competition law, and contract law. Together with Baker & McKenzie Partner Alex Dowding, he coordinated the Competition/Distribution department in Paris, which includes a team of a dozen lawyers. The department serves clients at the European and international level through a global network of some 300 lawyers.
Mr. Fabre, 59, holds a DESS degree in private law, a DEA in intellectual property law and a doctorate in law, all from the University of Montpellier. He joined Baker & McKenzie’s Paris office in 2003 as a Partner. Mr. Fabre is also a member of the Collège des Experts de la Fédération Française de la Franchise (French Franchise Federation Expertise Board) and is a professor at the University of Montpellier.
Baker & McKenzie currently has nearly 150 lawyers and legal advisors based in Paris. The office provides services in all areas of law to major international groups and medium-sized companies in France and other countries, as well as government bodies and public entities. The Firm also assists with international development, cross-border transactions and dealings in the French market.
