Legal Intelligence at the Service of the Company
The firm's lawyers share the same approach to their profession. In assisting the decision-making of the companies they advise, they put the emphasis on teamwork. This is based on complementary competencies, exchange of information and a shared capacity for anticipation. The Paris office was established in 1963. Today it comprises 70 lawyers and experts in all disciplines relating to the strategy of French and international companies. The network of 60 Baker & McKenzie offices, made up of more than 2,800 lawyers in 35 countries, offers to the firm's associates a working environment practically without equal.
Open to a Multiplicity of Competencies
Each year, the Paris office recruits young associates fulfilling precise criteria with regard to their training and aptitude, such as:
- Multidisciplinary training combining legal studies of a high level ("CAPA", third stage of specialisation) with commercial qualifications or a diploma in foreign law;
- Knowledge of legal English, spoken and written;
- Aptitude for work in a multidisciplinary team;
- Capacity to listen to a company's needs.
Open to the World
Each associate is integrated into a practice group at the European level. This group meets several times a year to work out common positions, examine case studies and become acquainted with different legal systems. This can be extended by a world-wide exchange programme allowing the associate to complete his training by secondment to another country. The result of this opening on the world is to acquire a regional and a global vision of companies.
The financial rewards are very motivating, and progress in direct proportion to the new associate's dedication and level of contribution.
Internship: First Work Experience
The Firm takes in many interns on a regular basis. They work directly with Baker & McKenzie lawyers for a period of three to six months. Every effort is made to ensure that this first experience in the workplace allows the interns to enrich their working methods: they participate in practice groups according to their specialist subject and have access to the support of the firm's documentation centre.
According to places available, the internship may lead to a permanent position if the intern has shown efficiency, a capacity for teamwork and adaptability.
